Who Are We and What Do We Do ?
The Ash Friends of Shooting Star Children's Hospices are a group of dedicated volunteers raising money for Shooting Star Children's Hospices, a leading children's hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, they are there to make every moment count. They support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care. Their bespoke support is free of charge to families and available 365 days a year. Care service includes short breaks at their two hospices (Shooting Star House in Hampton and Christopher's in Guildford), Hospice at Home, day care, symptom management, end-of-life care, bereavement care and a comprehensive range of therapies and support groups for the whole family. It costs £10 million a year to maintain the current level of care and, with around 10% of their income coming from government funding, they rely on supporters' generosity to keep the service running. What's more, there are many more families desperate for this vital support, so it's crucial they raise more funds to provide more care. As Chairman of our group, I am very fortunate to have such a dedicated and hardworking Committee - my thanks to them. I would also like to thank family members and friends who also give up a lot of their time to help us. Chris Little Chairman - The Ash Friends of Shooting Star Children's Hospices We would like to thank Peter and Emma Chambers of Chambers Waste Management PLC, Gordon Tyerman of CCTV Training and Logistics, Pyramid Steel Aldershot and Dan Broda at CSL Transport for their continued support.
