Summer Fun Day 2020
Our Summer Fun Day is returning this year and will be held in conjunction with Aldershot Traco Club. It is from 12:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, 12th July and is being held at the Traco premises in Weybourne Road, Aldershot, GU11 3NE. There will be free parking on site and everyone is welcome. There will be lots of attractions for the whole family including Bouncy Castle, BBQ, stalls, a Tea Tent, Ice Creams, a Fun Dog Show, Fairground Rides and lots, lots more! Come along for a great time for the whole family! We are, as always, looking for volunteers to help out with leaflet distribution in the area and helpers on the day. If you are in a position to help out please go to our Contact Us page and drop us an email. Special thanks go to Chambers Waste Management PLC who are our major sponsor for the event. You can download a Stall Booking form here and a Vehicle Entry form here.
One of our Committee, Vicky Kimber, is taking part in the 100Km South Coast Challenge this year raising much needed funds for Shooting Star Children's Hospices. She is looking for sponsors and would appreciate your help in raising her target of £1,200. If you would like to help her out please visit her fundraising page at JustGiving and donate!
We are always looking for small prizes and goods that we can include in the many Tombolas that we hold. In addition, we would like your old toner and ink cartridges; stamps; foreign coins; mobile phones. If you have anything that may be suitable that you can donate to us, please visit our Contact Us page and drop us an email with the details. Thank you.
Who Are We and What Do We Do ?
The Ash Friends of Shooting Star Children's Hospices are a group of dedicated volunteers raising money for Shooting Star Children's Hospices, a leading children's hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, they are there to make every moment count. They support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.
Their bespoke support is free of charge to families and available 365 days a year. Care service includes short breaks at their two hospices (Shooting Star House in Hampton and Christopher's in Guildford), Hospice at Home, day care, symptom management, end-of-life care, bereavement care and a comprehensive range of therapies and support groups for the whole family.
It costs £10 million a year to maintain the current level of care and, with around 10% of their income coming from government funding, they rely on supporters' generosity to keep the service running. What's more, there are many more families desperate for this vital support, so it's crucial they raise more funds to provide more care.
As Chairman of our group, I am very fortunate to have such a dedicated and hardworking Committee - my thanks to them. I would also like to thank family members and friends who also give up a lot of their time to help us.
